Abel Jordán combined elite training with his studies at Base. Today he holds the Spanish U23 national record in the 60 m sprint and won a medal at the European U23 Championships.

How much does the school cost? Are there additional fees?

Fees for the 2025–26 academic year. Tuition ranges from €630/month in Preschool (full day) to €1,445/month in the final year of the IB Diploma. The morning-only option for the youngest Preschool group (ages 1 and 2) is €490/month. Billed in 10 monthly instalments (except the final year of Spanish Bachillerato and IB Diploma, which are 9). Extended hours are free at all stages. School dining (€245/month), transport (from €150/month), and after-school activities (~€65/month) are arranged separately. From the third sibling onwards, the registration fee is waived.
What is the admissions process like? Is there an entrance test?

The process starts with a personal interview with the family, followed by a meeting with the student. From Primary onwards, there is a trial day at school. The aim is to understand the student and check the fit with the educational project.
Is there transport from central Madrid?

Yes. Base has 19 school bus routes reaching from Atocha and Narváez to Mirasierra and Tres Cantos, passing through Hortaleza, Las Tablas, Barajas, Sanchinarro, and San Sebastián de los Reyes. From €150/month. This year the school is adding the BatOnRoute app for real-time tracking.
Is the school in La Moraleja or Alcobendas?

The postal address is Calle Camino Ancho 10 and 12, 28109 Alcobendas, but the campus is within the La Moraleja residential area. Both references are correct. Direct access from the A-1 and M-11.
What is the difference between the Spanish Bachillerato and the IB Diploma?

The Spanish Bachillerato prepares students for the university entrance exams (PAU/Selectividad): 100% pass rate in June, average score 7.77. The IB Diploma Programme is recognised by universities worldwide: 96% pass rate, average score 31.21/45, above the world mean. Base offers both. The guidance team supports each student and family in making the decision.
What level of English will my child reach?

More than half the timetable is taught in English in Preschool and Primary. By the end of Year 6: Cambridge B1 (enough to hold a fluent conversation). By Year 10: Cambridge C1 (the level to study at an English-speaking university). By the end of Bachillerato: Cambridge C2 (native level, the highest certification there is). In the latest C2 exam, 100% of students passed. From Year 5, a second language is compulsory (French or German): 100% pass rate in the official French (DELF) and German (Goethe) exams.
Is the school religious or does it follow a particular ideology?

No. Base has been private, non-denominational, co-educational, and independent since it was founded in 1962. Inspired by the Institución Libre de Enseñanza: critical thinking, intellectual freedom, tolerance, and respect. The only school in La Moraleja with this secular tradition of more than 60 years.
Can my child join part-way through the year?

Yes. Base accepts new students at any year group and any time of year, subject to availability. It has experience integrating students from British, American, and French education systems, with language immersion programmes. The Family Coordinator supports every new family throughout the year.
How does the school manage phone use and AI?

Personal mobile phones are kept put away throughout the school day, in line with current legislation. Base has its own ChatGPT with teacher-approved sources. All the school's Chromebooks and laptops have centralised management (Meraki) and content filtering (Qustodio) in real time.
